Smoke at Colorado Springs hotel prompts evacuation

Smoke at a Colorado Springs hotel prompted evacuations Saturday night.

Firefighters were called to the Days Inn on Razorback Road around 9:30 p.m.

Guests were asked to leave their rooms while firefighters tracked down smoke in the building.

They were able to find smoke on multiple floors and discovered it was coming from “charred material” inside an access door to a void space in the stairway.

Firefighters said the sprinkler system inside the hotel was able to put the fire out.

All guests have been allowed to return to their room and no one has been displaced by the fire.

An investigation has begun into what started the fire.
