Police: Suspect breaks into home, assaults homeowner

A man was arrested after police say he broke into a home and assaulted the homeowner early Saturday morning.

The incident happened in the 1900 block of E. Bijou St. in Colorado Springs. The victim told police that the suspect entered his home, assaulted him, then left.

Shortly after, police pulled over a car matching the description the victim gave police. The driver of the car also matched the description the victim gave.

Miguel Garcia, 34, was taken into custody on charges of 1st Degree Burglary, Robbery and numerous traffic charges.

The victim was taken to the hospital to treat minor injuries.

Police say Garcia broke into the home by removing an air conditioning unit in the window.

No weapons were involved in the incident.

The victim did not know Garcia.
