Serious crash kills one, injures five in Teller County
A serious crash on Highway 24 Sunday kills a driver and sends five people to the hospital.
A spokesman with the State Patrol says Highway 24 was closed in both directions in Teller County between Divide and Florissant for hours.
The crash happened at 11:20 a.m. Sunday.
A Ford F150 was traveling westbound on US 24 when it crossed into the eastbound lane, officials said. The Ford sideswiped a maroon dodge pick-up pulling a small horse trailer and collided head-on with a Toyota Sienna. The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene. A source says a horse was inside the trailer and is okay.
Those who drive this part of Highway 24 regularly say a combination of turns, sharp drop offs and speeding drivers make it extremely dangerous.
Just two weeks ago, a bus carrying a church group on a rafting trip collided with a truck who crossed into their lane. The driver of the truck died.
