1 killed in plane crash at Great Sand Dunes park

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating after one person was killed and two others were injured in a small plane crash at the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in southern Colorado.

NTSB spokesman Peter Knudson says three people were on board when the plane crashed just after 10 a.m. Saturday. The Federal Aviation Administration is joining the NTSB in the investigation.

FAA spokesman Allen Kenitzer tells The Denver Post the Piper PA-28 crashed on Medano Pass, which he described as a “quite remote area.”

The names of the victims have not been released.
