New Ebel parole audio: Is there more?

Evan Ebel is the prime suspect in the murder of prison chief Tom Clements and Nate Leon from Denver.

Ebel refused to attend his final parole board hearing, which was less than a month before he was released from prison.

KRDO NewsChannel 13 has obtained audio of that hearing, and there might be more the Department of Corrections is not saying. A Denver television station is reporting there is more that wasn’t released to everyone.

The audio clip of the parole hearing of Ebel’s final parole hearing was conducted over the phone, and he refused to attend. The clip lasted about 38 seconds.

KRDO NewsChannel13 requested audio of a parole hearing where Ebel was present, and could be heard telling the parole board he had been rehabilitated. Representatives with the DOC said they do not have that audio, and that they do not know how other media got it.

Ebel was released in January 2013, four years early. The court said the early release was a mistake.

Officials with the DOC said they are now double checking if that other audio clip came from their office. We’ll let you know what they find out.

Tom Clements and Nate Leon were murdered only weeks after Ebel was released. Ebel died in a shoot-out with deputies in Texas in March.
