Inmate at Pueblo County Detention Facility dies

An investigation is underway after an inmate at the Pueblo County Detention Facility died.

According to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, the 36-year-old woman was pronounced dead at Parkview Hospital at 5:37 p.m. Monday.

A deputy at the jail noticed the woman was unconscious in her bunk less than an hour before.

The deputy immediately called for help, and the inmate was rushed to the hospital.

The Sheriff’s Office says the woman was being housed in a direct supervision area of the facility because of her health.

The unidentified woman was arrested on a protection order violation, assault, criminal mischief, and domestic violence on Sunday.

An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
