Manitou Springs parking is put to the test

The annual Manitou Springs Wine Festival was the first large crowd event in the city since the pay to park implementation.

Festival organizers provide shuttle services specifically for the event. Still many people who attended the festival had to use the new system. They told KRDO NEWSCHANNEL 13 it wasn’t a problem.

“Free’s always great, but parking actually worked out pretty well,” Michael Finch said. “It wasn’t too hard to use, and it worked out pretty well.”

Organizer said they didn’t expect the parking meters to affect the festival’s turnout. Prior to the event, they had already sold around 800 tickets. They expected to double that number by the end of the day.

This was the eleventh annual wine festival. It featured 25 different wineries.
