Grandmother on trial in 4-year-old boy’s death
Lawyers for a woman charged with killing her 4-year-old grandson say the boy might have had an undetected condition that would explain his brain damage.
A trial got under way Wednesday for Becky Trujillo of Commerce City, charged with first-degree murder in the February 2012 death of Gabriel Trujillo.
The Denver Post reports defense lawyers suggested Gabriel may have had a hematoma, a tumor-like mass of blood outside blood vessels.
Police and firefighters testified Gabriel was skinny and bruised when they went to Becky Trujillo’s home after an emergency call. Trujillo was the boy’s legal guardian.
Gabriel’s mother, Christine Trujillo, testified her son was naked, bruised and cold when she visited.
