Colo. getting a climate change czar
A state official will be tasked with studying the impacts of climate change in Colorado and make recommendations on how to prepare for everything from stronger wildfires, water sustainability and shorter ski seasons.
But not everyone is behind the proposal signed into law this week. Republicans who opposed the bill are skeptical that climate change is human caused.
The position would be at least part-time and have “climate change” in the title. The governor has yet to appoint an official, who may be a current employee who will take on additional responsibilities at no additional cost.
New York state has an office to study climate change, and Pennsylvania has a climate change manager. Other states have climatologists, although their mission may not necessarily be the study of climate change.
