Jury deliberating in case of Pueblo man accused of kidnapping girl
The fate of a man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl is with a Pueblo jury. Jose Garcia is accused of taking the girl on her way home from school last year.
She escaped and called police from a Circle K in Colorado Springs. DNA evidence was presented during the trial.
An expert said the girl’s DNA was found on Garcia. A nurse also said the girl had injuries consistent with sexual assault.
Garcia’s attorney’s say he picked her up after school without her parent’s permission and didn’t hurt her.
The jury got the case at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. They deliberated the rest of the day and will resume again on Wednesday morning.
