Marijuana in Co. Springs

Colorado Springs could ban the sale of recreational marijuana. It turns out the city has a lot of power when dealing with Amendment 64. The Colorado Springs City Council got an update on marijuana law.

Smoking marijuana is legal in Colorado. Local communities, like Colorado Springs, can’t undo that, but can stop recreational marijuana shops from setting up in the city.

The city attorney’s office gave city council an overview of its options. Those options are ban, regulate, or wait to decide.

Moratoriums can be between one to six months.

Banning the sale of recreational marijuana does not affect growing it at home – or legal use by adults.

Mayor Steve Bach will present his position on the sale of recreational to city council next month.
