Police investigate smoke bomb, bank robbery and carjacking

Colorado Springs Police are investigating a string of events in close succession including a smoke bomb, a bank robbery and a carjacking.

Just prior to the armed bank robbery at the Key Bank 3605 Hartsel Drive, some kind of smoke device was set off near the intersection on Woodmen between Rangewood and Lexington, possibly as a diversion.

Following the bank robbery there was a carjacking nearby that police say involved the same suspect.

Police say the suspect is a white man around 30 years old about 5’10” tall.

He may be in a black Toyota Corolla with Colorado license plate 999-UOA.

The bomb squad was called to investigate the smoke devices.

No one was hurt.
