Colorado Springs Police Sergeant charged with two felonies announces retirement

A Colorado Springs police sergeant who was formally charged with two felonies on Thursday announced he is retiring.

Sgt. James Butierres announced he will retire from the Colorado Springs Police Department effective Friday, May 10th.

On Thursday he was in court where he was charged with two felony crimes, theft and forgery.

Butierres is accused of falsifying his time sheet and misusing grant money related to a car-theft enforcement program.
