Heavy rain misses Waldo Canyon burn scar

KRDO NewsChannel 13’s Scott Harrison reported on the local concern about a higher flash flooding risk from rain after the Waldo Canyon fire.

Authorities in the Colorado Springs area gathered to finalize preparations Wednesday morning as the first rain fell. Fortunately, rainfall remained light and no flooding occurred.

Authorities have worked since the fire and several succeeding flash floods last summer and fall, to educate residents in high-risk areas about the increased risk, and to inform them how they can receive warnings to remain safe.
