UPDATE: Suspicious package deemed safe

The El Paso County Sheriff’s office said a suspicious package near Peterson Road and Highway 24 was a bag of empty food cans.

Deputies showed up to the scene Saturday morning when they got a report of a suspicious package..

Officials said there were no evacuations.
