Drug ring busted on the Western Slope

A major drug ring is busted in Mesa County leading to 25 arrests. 36 people have been indicted by a grand jury.

Grand Junction police report that large amounts of methamphetamine, and cocaine, $144,300 in U.S. currency, and several firearms and vehicles have been seized during the execution of search warrants related to the arrests.

According to authorities, Francisco Peralta-Cabral, or Poncho, along with at least 39 others, bought, sold and traded illegal drugs in Mesa County, specifically meth and cocaine.

The indictment states the illegal activity spanned from December 15, 2012 to April 30, 2013.

Peralta-Cabral would import the drugs from Mexico, then several suspects would buy the drugs at bulk and break those drugs down into smaller portions to sell.
