Convict walks away from minimum security facility

Authorities are looking for a convict who walked away from a minimum security facility near Golden.

The Colorado Department of Corrections says 30-year-old Kenneth Gomez was working as a mechanic at the Colorado State Patrol Garage, which is at the Colorado Correctional Center.

Officials noticed Gomez was gone Wednesday morning, when he did not report for a formal count. A red service vehicle from the Colorado State Patrol Garage also is missing.

Gomez was convicted of burglary and disturbing the public peace in 2011. He was sentenced to five years.

Authorities say Gomez has two tattoos on his neck: one on the right side that says “Jester” and one on the left side that says “Josiah.”
