Man breaks into convenience store, puts schools on delay

Officials say Fremont Middle School, Focus Academy, and Fremont Elementary School are on a 2-hour delay because of police activity.

A spokesman with the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office said deputies took a suspect into custody at a the Kwik Stop convenience store on Highway 115 between 2nd and 3rd street.

The situation started at 5 a.m. Monday when a clerk came to open the store in Florence and found a man inside the store.

The man told the clerk he had a gun and she left the store and called for help.

Officials said they are not sure if he broke into the store or was in their when it closed at 10 p.m. Sunday.
