3 killed on I-70 in crash in Glenwood Canyon

The Colorado State Patrol said three people are dead after the Audi they were riding in collided head-on with a semitrailer on Interstate 70 in Glenwood Canyon.

Construction in the canyon has shifted all eastbound traffic on I-70 into the normal westbound lanes, creating one eastbound lane and one westbound lane of traffic.

Troopers said an Audi was heading east in a westbound lane about 5:30 a.m. Sunday when it collided with the semitrailer about 13 miles east of Glenwood Springs. Troopers said two females and one male in the Audi were killed. The semitrailer driver wasn’t hurt.

The National Weather Service said the Glenwood Springs area got 1 to 4 inches of snow overnight. Troopers said roads were wet at the time of the crash
