Fort Carson unit to deploy to Afghanistan

The Department of Defense announced Wednesday that the 4th Infantry Division Headquarters will be among other units to deploy to Afghanistan this summer.

In all, about about 9-thousand troops will be part of the rotation, according to the DOD.

Other units to deploy are the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany, the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, the 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas and the 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Knox, Ky.
