Airman assigned to AF Academy facing sex charges

A male airman who works at the Air Force Academy is facing charges of aggravated sexual contact and abusive sexual contact against a female enlisted airman.

The academy said Friday that a squadron commander brought the charges Thursday. The airmen’s names weren’t released. Lawyers are working to schedule an Article 32 hearing, which is equivalent to a civilian grand jury proceeding.

Following the hearing, the 10th Air Base Wing commander could dismiss the case, recommend it go to a general court-martial, or choose other disciplinary or administrative action.
