Gun Shop Owner Responds to New Gun Laws

The gun control reforms have been signed by Governor Hickenlooper and they will be law. So now what? The aftershocks are being felt in all Colorado gun shops.

“I’m not happy about it. It is going to cause a lot of problems for a lot of people. It is going to be challenging to figure out what we can sell in this state and what we can’t sell,” said Jeff Lepp, the owner and CEO of Specialty Sports.

Lepp said he hasn’t received anything from the state on what these laws will mean for his shop. For now he continues to sell 30 round magazines, and his place is busy every day.

Lepp originally said he would leave the state if gun control laws were passed, now he will stay open, but will not expand in Colorado.

“We have been looking at opening two new stores in the state of Colorado. That will not happen. Those stores will be opening in two different states now,” said Lepp

He will continue to vocally oppose the new laws.

“I had strong intentions for the state of Colorado. I will never open another business in the state of Colorado. The state of Colorado is not a friendly place to do business in,” said Lepp.

The new laws go into effect July 1st.
