National exposure to case

The La Plata County Sheriff’s Office has been flooded with up to 500 calls relating to the Dylan Redwine missing person investigation. It’s happened since Dr. Phil aired his explosive two part interview with the Redwine family. 14 year old Dylan has been missing since before Thanksgiving. He was last seen with his Dad, Mark in the Durango area. During the Dr. Phil show, Elaine Redwine blamed her ex-husband for Dylan’s disappearance. That claim has never been confirmed by investigators.

Dan Bender is with the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office. He told me, “We will be comparing information that was on the show with other information that we already received to see if that will help us to find Dylan.” Bender also said this is more than an investigation to he and his staff, “I’m a Father, a Grandfather and all of our investigators are parents and in some cases Grandparents. We identify very closely in this case. It’s part of our drive to find Dylan and bring him back alive if possible.”

The La Plata County Sheriff’s Office wouldn’t go into what they thought or didn’t think about the interviews done on the Dr. Phil Show. Dan Bender said it is inappropriate to comment during an ongoing investigation. There is a five agency task force that is part of the search for the missing Monument teen.

There is also a 50 thousand plus in reward money to find Dylan. The La Plata County Sheriff’s Office has a dedicated tip line for calls relating to the search. It is 970-382-7511.
