Colorado changes how it calculates payroll jobs
The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment is revising the way it calculates payroll job figures.
The department said Monday it will use employer reports to estimate revisions to the monthly nonfarm payroll jobs figures produced by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The department says it is one of the first in the nation to use the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages program for its analysis. Department officials say the new information is more closely aligned with the figures on nonfarm payroll jobs that use total employment figures because one person may hold more than one job.
