Former Colorado Springs officer awaits sentence

A former Colorado Springs police officer convicted of inappropriately touching students while volunteering as an assistant wrestling coach is awaiting his sentence.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports Joshua Carrier is scheduled to be sentenced Friday.

Carrier was accused of fondling, groping and videotaping Horace Mann Middle School wrestlers under the pretext he was checking them for skin diseases before matches. He also was accused of molesting children while checking students who complained of sports injuries and illness.

In addition, he was convicted of child pornography charges related to DVDs and images found by police.
