Cranking up the heat for the weekend

Good afternoon!

We've seen a decent amount of rain across the region this afternoon. Earlier this afternoon, we did have a flash flood warning for areas in and around the burn area. However, for you viewers up in northeastern El Paso County, we've seen strong to at times severe thunderstorms. While those storms have dropped hail up to the size of half dollars, the bigger story is the amount of rain that has fallen. We've seen 1-3" of rain in some areas of northeastern El Paso County, and that has caused flash flooding.

As we head into the evening hours, rain coverage will become less widespread, with most of us drying out as we head later into the evening hours.

The start of your weekend looks to be toasty with even hotter temperatures as we head into Sunday and Monday. Expect high temperatures in the lower 90s on Saturday with upper 90s expected on Sunday and Monday. Those of you to the south will see even hotter temperatures, with lower 100s expected on Sunday and Monday in and around Pueblo.

As for precipitation: We may see an isolated shower or thunderstorm tomorrow, but most of us will remain dry. It should be mostly dry throughout the next few days with rain chances returning as we head into the middle part of next week.
