Exclusive snowboard to help raise funds for fire victims
Many Colorado Springs residents are still recovering from the Waldo Canyon Fire, a process that experts say will continue for years to come.
For that reason, Rudy’s Bar-B-Q and Never Summer Industries have teamed up to help give back.
Never Summer Industries has created an exclusive snowboard that features a Colorado flag and a tree with “Regrowth” etched into the trunk. The boards will be auctioned off with a starting bid of $400, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Pikes Peak Region Long Term Recovery Group and the Long Term Recovery Group of Northern Colorado.
“A lot of people are still dealing with insurance companies, still don’t have claims, still are finding out the extent of their damage and what their needs are,” said Michelle Swanson.
Swanson said the over $12,000 expected to be raised from this promotion is a blessing that will help many fire victims in the community.
According to Rudy’s Bar-B-Q General Manager, Shea Matoska, employees of the Colorado Springs location were displaced during the fire, with one employee losing their home to the blaze.
He said this is Rudy’s way of giving back to the community.
“We’re a Texas-based company. So, we’re kind of coming together to help out the locals here in town,” Matoska said.
Ten boards will be auctioned off per week, for the next two weeks. There are 25 boards still available in sizes 163W, 158 and 149.

“Never Summer is out of Denver, and they’re top-notch boards. I mean, you can’t beat them really,” said Matoska.
