Deadly crash in Calhan

A man was killed in a car crash in Calhan at the intersection of Judge Orr Rd. and Log Rd. Tuesday morning.

Colorado State Patrol says that around 5:15 a.m., the driver of a 2012 red Nissan Titan failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a 1996 brown Ford Bronco in the intersection.

The driver of the Nissan Titan, 65-year-old Charles George of Calhan, died at the scene.

Two passengers in the Ford Bronco, a man and a woman from Calhan, were taken to Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

George was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, CSP said.

The State Patrol believes the cause of the crash is disregarding a stop sign, and it is also looking into whether or not a medical condition played a role in this instance.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected factors in the crash.
