Elderly woman saved from Boulder home explosion

Two law enforcement officers and a neighbor are being credited with saving an elderly woman from a Boulder home that burned following two explosions thought to have been sparked by a natural gas leak.

The Daily Camera reported sheriff’s deputy Jeff George arrived at the home Saturday night and was told by neighbor John Walpole the woman lived alone in the residence, which was on fire.

Authorities said the men found 83-year-old Marvyl Holder in the home and carried her outside. It was there that Boulder police officer Ed Burke helped the deputy carry the woman to safety moments before another explosion rocked the home.

George is the deputy under investigation for helping remove the carcass of an elk that was allegedly illegally shot and killed by a Boulder police officer earlier this year.
