Police investigating after man suffers gunshot wound to leg

Police are investigating an overnight shooting that left a man with a gunshot wound to this leg.

An officer was patrolling in the area of Van Teylingen Dr. And Jeannine Dr. shortly before 2:00 a.m. Saturday when he heard several gunshots. The officer then saw several cars quickly drive away. He stopped one of the cars.

The car had several bullet holes in the passenger side, but the victim was not hit.

The victim said the shots were fired from a gray-colored sedan. The victim also told police there was a blue sedan in the area during the shooting.

Shortly after, police responded to a suspicious car parked in the 3000 block of N. Academy Blvd. They found a blue sedan with several bullet holes in it. There were also signs that the passenger of the car had been injured.

Officers found the passenger of the car at his home with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

Police do not have any suspects at this time.

The Major Crimes Unit is investigating this incident.
