Deadly accident kills 1, sends 1 to the hospital

One person has died in an accident on South Nevada and Lake Avenue, according to Colorado Springs police.

Police said the accident happened on the northbound off ramp of S. Nevada at Lake Avenue around 2 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators said a woman in a red Geo Tracker was trying to make a left turn onto eastbound Lake Ave. when a driver heading west crashed into the car.

Officials said the woman died at the scene of the crash. The man driving a black Chrysler was taken to the hospital with head and leg injuries. He is expected to recover.

Police are looking into which driver was at fault for the crash.

The road reopened about 5:15 p.m. Saturday.
