Florence Mayor Giebler found dead

Florence’s mayor is found dead in his home.

Police say the body of Charles Giebler was found in his home Friday afternoon.

It’s not yet known how he died.

Florence City Councilwoman, Nichole Prickett released this statement:

“Florence City Council would like to express with deep regret and sorrow, the loss of our dear friend and Mayor, Charles Giebler. His easy going demeanor, witty sense of humor and honest nature will be sorely missed. He was a true citizen of Florence, who always put his community first. We are grateful for the opportunity to spend time and to know him. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as we come to terms with this great loss. May he rest in peace.”
