Fire at Big R store in Peyton

Firefighters from several El Paso County fire departments have a fire at the Big R store on Highway 24 near Peyton under control.

Officials said the fire started in a barn, and the store front is not affected by the fire.

Firefighters said when they arrived on scene the barn was fully engulfed in flames.

Officials said the fire spread to nearby grass putting some neighbors on alert.

Officials said two homes were evacuated as a precaution. The fire was contained at 15 acres. Fire crews will let the fire burn out and will be on scene to watch the fire through out Thursday evening.

Highway 24 remains open.
