Police standoff ends peacefully in Trinidad

Our news partners at AroundTrinidad.com and Trinidad and Las Animas County News report that a police standoff has ended peacefully at a mobile home in Trinidad on Wednesday afternoon.

The standoff began around 2:00 p.m. Deputies were able to talk a man out of the home around 6:00 p.m. It is unclear why the man was wanted. The Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office says it was assisting the probation department in this incident.

The man, who has not been identified, was taken to Mt. San Rafael Hospital for evaluation.

AroundTrinidad.com learned that the man has mental health issues.

The mobile home is located off exit 11, one mile south of Trinidad, behind Tequila’s Restaurant.
