Pedestrian struck by hit-and-run driver on S. Nevada

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening on South Nevada Avenue near East Ramona Avenue. The driver of the vehicle then left the scene.

Police told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that the vehicle stopped briefly and the driver got out of the car. Then the driver then got back in the car and drove away. There is currently no description of the suspect or vehicle.

The victim was transported to the hospital. The extent of injuries is not known.

Police say the pedestrian was crossing the street midway in the block and when he reached the median a car in the left lane stopped for him and the man proceeded but a car in the center lane did not stop and hit the pedestrian.

Police say the pedestrian may have been intoxicated, however the driver who left the scene could still face charges of leaving the scene of an injury accident.
