Wildlife officials dealing with Boulder coyotes

Wildlife officials hope to unveil a strategy Monday to deal with aggressive coyotes that have been reported near a path in east Boulder.

Val Matheson, Boulder’s urban wildlife conservation coordinator says the new management plan is “a work in progress.” She is sharing it with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the University of Colorado.

Open space rangers stepped up foot patrols after a jogger on the Boulder Creek Path was bitten in the calf by a coyote Dec. 29. On Dec. 24, a woman walking a dog was menaced by a coyote, but it ran away after the woman swatted at it with a stick and the dog intervened.

On Dec. 27, a cyclist said a coyote chased him on the path.
