Ex-day care provider sentenced after boy drowns

A former Colorado day care provider who pleaded guilty to child abuse after the drowning death of a 4-year-old boy under her care has been sentenced to 90 days in jail.

Our partners at the Pueblo Chieftain report Leslie Ann Grayson, 52, was sentenced Friday for the Aug. 15 death of Riddick Boling in a swimming pool at the woman’s residential day care in Canon City.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says the child was playing with a group of children near the pool when he fell in. The children told investigators that Grayson was inside her home making sandwiches at the time of the accident.

Authorities say Grayson was licensed to have eight children under her care, but on the day the boy drowned she had 13 children in her home.
