Deputies: Father shot son by mistake in Black Forest
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says a Black Forest man tried to shoot his estranged roommate but accidentally shot his son instead.
It happened just after 1 a.m. Wednesday in the 8000 block of Shipman Lane.
The victim, 22-year-old Anthony DeCarlo, was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.
Deputies say that DeCarlo’s father, 45-year-old Glenn DeCarlo, had a falling out with a man living at their home.
The man had been living at the address but due to the recent falling out was told to move out. Deputies say he had come to the home to retrieve personal belongings.
As he was picking up those items, Glenn DeCarlo fired multiple rounds at his former roommate, but struck Anthony by mistake.
DeCarlo has been charged with Attempted First Degree Murder (class 2 felony) and First Degree Assault (class 3 felony) and was booked into the Criminal Justice Center. His total bond is $50,000.
