Man accused of shooting ex-girlfriend in her car
New Mexico State Police have arrested a man who was sought after his ex-girlfriend was shot in her car south of Denver.
The woman’s condition wasn’t immediately released.
Arapahoe County sheriff’s officials say that around 8 a.m. Wednesday, the woman was driving northbound on the exit ramp from Interstate 25 to East County Line Road when a man approached, stepped in front of her car and fired one round through the windshield before leaving by motorcycle.
Authorities identified the suspect as her 27-year-old ex-boyfriend, Christopher Lyle Fields, who had been ordered to wear a GPS ankle monitor in a pending stalking case in Douglas County. Authorities say the monitor was removed and discarded near the crime scene.
He was arrested around 2:30 p.m. near Raton, N.M.
