Man dies after shooting at Copperhead Road Saloon

A man has died after an early morning shooting at a Colorado Springs bar.

Police received reports of shots fired just before 2:00 a.m. at the parking lot of the Copperhead Road Saloon off N. Academy Blvd. Near N. Carefree Cir.

Police said that there was an altercation between a bar patron and an armed security guard in the bar parking lot. During the argument, shots were exchanged.

The bar patron, a 21-year-old man, was shot in the head. He was taken to the hospital where he later died of his injuries. He has not been identified pending notification of his family.

Police say they know who is involved, but there are no suspects in custody. The investigation is ongoing and under review by the District Attorney’s Office.
