CSPD arrest woman accused of threatening officers
A tense police search ended Thursday night in Colorado Springs when officers captured a woman believed to be seeking revenge on them.
Around 7:30 p.m., police arrested Donna Quintana, 45, also known as Donna Kresky. Police said she had tried to escape a stakeout and crashed a stolen vehicle into a median in the 2300 block of E. Platte Avenue.
Police said they learned around noon that Quintana may have been armed with a shotgun and wanted to retaliate for the death of her son, Robert Kresky, a month ago. Kresky, 23, was killed by an officer after crashing a stolen vehicle into a police cruiser and trying to run from the scene. The shooting remains under investigation.
“Any time you’re dealing with someone who’s making threats to harm police, we worry about that person harming the rest of the community,” said Sgt. Missy Reynolds. “We made sure we had enough manpower.”
Patrol officers, SWAT team members and undercover detectives took part in the stakeout. Officers searched the vehicle but didn’t find a weapon. Quintana faces charges of theft by receiving, and eluding. Police said the vehicle was stolen in Fountain two months ago.
“Once she wasn’t able to get away, she was cooperative,” said Reynolds.
Platte Ave. was briefly closed between Prairie Road and Platte Place during the arrest. A man in the vehicle with Quintana was questioned by police and later released.
