Man shot by Springs police has died

A man shot by a Colorado Springs police officer has died from his injuries at Memorial Hospital.

The man who was shot has been identified as23 year old Robert Kresky. It started as achase through Colorado Springs on December 4th.

Police say they observed a stolen car in the area of Powers Blvd. and Astrozon Blvd.

The car did not stop so police pursued him. Police say a police car crashed with the stolen vehicle near Bijou St. and Iowa Ave. and ended the pursuit.

The suspect then fled on foot, prompting a foot pursuit.

An officer shot the suspect who was transported to a local hospital.

Police say according to standard policy, any officer involved in a police shooting will be placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.

Investigators from the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office and detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit are co-investigating this incident.
