Man in critical condition after downtown stabbing

A man was in critical condition after being stabbed during an apparent fight downtown Tuesday evening.

Police blocked off Kiowa Street between Cascade and Tejon to process the crime scene.

Police say the report came in as a fight, but when they got to the scene they found a man stabbed several times.

Officers say witnesses gave conflicting information and they do not have a suspect description.

The fight apparently started in an alley, then the victim stumbled to the street and flagged down a nearby ambulance, according to the Colorado Springs Police Blotter.

Police say the early indications are the victim was not running Tuesday night with a local running club. However, they are not releasing his name at this point.

The circumstances surrounding the stabbing are still under investigation.

No suspect information has been released.
