Colo. Christmas tree arrives at US Capitol

This year’s U.S. Capitol Christmas tree has arrived in Washington from Colorado.

The tree from the White River National Forest arrived by truck and was erected on the Capitol grounds on Monday.

The tree will be decorated with approximately 5,000 ornaments and will be lit by House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, during a ceremony on Dec. 4.

First Lady Michele Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia last week greeted the arrival of the Christmas tree that will be displayed in the Blue Room of the White House. The 19-foot tree from the mountains of North Carolina arrived Friday by horse-drawn carriage.
