Police: 7-Eleven employee faked robbery

The 7-Eleven off of Briargate Boulevard in Colorado Springs appeared to be the latest convenience store to fall victim to a violent robbery, but police arrested an employee who they believe staged the robbery.

Police arrested 19-year-old Tyler Klein on charges of false reporting and felony theft.

Police received three robbery panic alarms around 11:45 p.m. Sunday.

Barabra Miller with the Colorado Springs police department said, “When we arrived on scene he was laying on the ground. We began our investigation and searching for a suspect, only to find out later there never was a suspect.”

Police say that Klein had actually stolen the money from the store and was trying to cover up his crime.

According to police, this elaborate crime resulted in $4,700 missing from the store.

7-Eleven refused to comment on the case.
