Springs man convicted of hatchet murder
A Colorado Springs man was convicted Thursday of soliciting the slaying of 20-year-old William Mickle in August 2011.
36-year-old Roger Julius Glover was found guilty of First Degree Murder. Glover is convicted of ordering 19-year-old Jordan Rowland to kill Mickle with a hatchet. Authorities caught Rowland with Mickle’s severed finger in his pocket. The coroner said Mickle suffered more than 20 chop wounds to his face.
Glover faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison. His official sentencing date is set for December 6th.
Rowland also faces First Degree Murder charges. A judge ruled in June that Rowland could temporarily withdraw his not guilty plea, pending Rowland’s decision to deny the charge by reason of insanity. A new trial date has not been set.
