Police search for domestic violence suspect

Colorado Springs Police have issued an arrest warrant for a man suspected of assaulting his girlfriend.

Police say that on October 24 Michael Anthony Rivera, 24, choked his girlfriend and punched her in the face, fracturing her nose. His girlfriend also reported to police that Rivera used a semi-automatic handgun to threaten her.

Detectives from the Colorado Springs Police Department Domestic Violence Unit issued a warrant for Rivera on charges of 1st Degree Assault, Kidnapping in the Second Degree and Menacing.

Rivera is a confirmed member of the Park Side Vario criminal street gang, police said. He is currently in violation of his parole according to officers.

Rivera is known to split time between Colorado Springs and Pueblo. If you have any information on Rivera’s whereabouts, you’re asked to call police at 719-444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP.
