Romney promises Colorado voters change on day one
Republican Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney made a final push for Colorado votes on Saturday.
Ann Romney joined her husband for a rally at the Jet Center. “This is our time to turn the country around and standing next to me is the man who will do it,” said Mrs. Romney.
Speaking before a energized crowd, Mitt delivered a speech that highlighted his plans for America and criticized President Barack Obama.
“Obama said he’d cut the deficit in half, instead he doubled it. He said unemployment would be cut to 5.2 percent. We learned Friday it’s 7.9 percent. That’s nine million jobs short of his promise,” said Romney.
The Republican Nominee positioned himself as a stark contrast to the current administration and stressed he has a proven track record.
“With a democratic legislature, I helped turn my state from deficit to surplus, from job losses to job growth, from higher taxes to higher take home pay,” he said.
Romney promised the crowd of supporters he would lead the country to energy independence, support small business, create jobs, cut the budget and eliminate what he calls “Obama-Care.”
Many supporters in the audience told KRDO News Channel 13 that they had already cast their vote. But many still believe these final campaign stops are critical.
“We got to keep pushing not until the last hour, but the last minute,” said Larry Passalacqua.
John Yates said his wife died last Wednesday but didn’t want to miss out on this year’s election. “Last thing she wanted to do was vote,” he said.
Other supporters were just excited to see their candidate in person. “There was a lot of suspense waiting for him… crowds kept getting bigger and bigger,” said Trevor Brimley.
Romney wrapped up his campaign stop by asking Colorado to “walk with me.” He added, “I need your help … Let’s come together America.”
Then, he ended the night with a final campaign stop in Englewood, Colorado.
Romney also made stops in New Hampshire and Iowa on Saturday.
