Political message in front of church sparks controversy

Some Lake George residents said they are furious over a political message posted in front of the Lake George Bible Church.

Bill Andrews pointed out the sign to KRDO NewsChannel 13 calling it “offensive, discriminatory and hateful.

The Rev. Randy McKinley said the message is not meant to please everybody.

“Truth is offensive,” said McKinley.

According to McKinley, church members decided on the message Wednesday night at a Bible study group.

He said he supports Mitt Romney for President, but that it is a personal view and not an official endorsement from the church.

McKinley said Romney is “the lesser of two evils” and he was initally backing Rick Santorum.

According to McKinley, he is focused on two major issues this election: traditional marriage and abortion.

Andrews spoke to McKinley this morning about his concerns. There are no plans to take the sign down.
