Shooting at Fillmore Ridge Apartments ruled homicide

Colorado Springs Police are investigating a homicide that happened at the Fillmore Ridge Apartments on Tuesday.

Police say that they responded to the apartments in the 3200 North Chestnut Street on a report of a suicide. Officers found a woman who had died of an apparent gunshot wound.

Based on investigation, police announced Wednesday that they established probable cause to arrest 26-year-old Louis Mamo for 2nd degree murder. The victim was identified as Mamo’s wife, 25-year-old Karen Mamo.

This marks the 20th homicide of 2012 in Colorado Springs. At this time last year there were 25 homicides.
